The One Man – One Engine philosophy is deeply integrated into AMG history. Every Mercedes-AMG inline 4, V8 and V12 engine is hand assembled by a single AMG technician in Affalterbach, Germany.
The technician’s duty is to assemble the engine completely. That entails everything from installing the crankshaft in the engine block to the assembly of the camshaft, cables, and fluid fill up.
This assembly process is tracked and documented by the AMG Trace System. This advanced documentation system checks each step of the engine build to assure that all parameters are met. It collects all information, from tightening torque all connections, test results, and exact fluid levels.
All of this work is completed in a two story, 9950 square meter engine shop in Affalterbach, Germany. All the technicians within the engine shop are the best at their craft with years of experience before they even set foot in the facility.
